Welcome to the Prairie Advocacy Center
OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE AND COORDINATE SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIME.
The Prairie Advocacy Center is a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center located in Topeka, Kansas.
Prairie Advocacy Center is a community based program designed to meet the unique needs of the victims of our community.
Child abuse is a multifaceted community problem. Our philosophy is no single agency, individual or discipline has all the knowledge, skills or resources to serve the needs of child victims and their family members.
For child victims and witnesses of abuse, knowing there are sensitive and responsive adults who will help can make all the difference in the world. These littlest victims of crime, and their non-offending family members, face an emotional challenge in telling their story and seeking help. Prairie Advocacy Center represents a child-friendly, safe place where these children can be heard and understood and the healing process can begin.
The representatives, brought together by Prairie Advocacy Center, work together to conduct joint forensic interviews and make team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases. These disciplines include law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy.
Prairie Advocacy Center believes that the combined wisdom and professional knowledge of those from different disciplines will result in a more complete understanding of case issues and the most effective, child and family-focused system response.
